The Theresienstadt Nazi Propaganda Film (1944)

Among the many ghastly events of the Third Reich's Reign of Terror was the Propaganda film Theresienstadt that Actor/Director Kurt Gerron was forced to make for his captures.
I normally list the Director's name before the Title in Posts like this, but out of respect for the great talent and character of Mr. Gerron (He was a War Hero and a warm and generous person in addition to being a great talent) I will not count this among his extensive credits and I have every confidence that he would approve.
Kurt Gerron and his family were shipped off to Auschwitz immediately after this film was completed and murdered the next day on October 28, 1944.
Although the film itself was destroyed, some significant footage remains:

Kurt Gerron sings "Mack The Knife" from "Three Penny Opera."

I attempted to come up with some kind of closing statement for this post but came up dry.
Real Evil tends to take the words away.

The Mysterious Death of Lynn Grabhorn

Lynn Grabhorn

author of the seminal book:
Excuse Me Your Life is Waiting
as well as Beyond the Twelve Steps
She also wrote the strange:
Dear God What's Happening to Us?
And the even stranger: Planet Two

This was her final message posted on her Web Site:

To all my friends, family, and the rest of you wonderful guys...

My work here on this planet is done, and I've now joined others of the Light in a higher dimension to help facilitate the forthcoming "Birth" that this planet and universe is about to experience.

Please. PLEASE! If you have to grieve for me, hold it down to a couple of minutes, and then be done with it, for that kind of energy placed on one who has just "left" can be torturous.

Frankly, I'm excited about where I'm going, and what's coming down for all of us. Yes, both hard times and great times are coming, but I beg you, STAY with the principles of "Excuse Me..." Teach those principles in seminars, workshops, books, speaking engagements, and one-one-. That is more important than I could ever put into words.

Let people know of the steps in "Dear God...", so critically important to every individual. And then get them into the fun and excitement of "Planet Two." Teach! Spread the word! Make it UN-woo-woo, and totally down to earth.

You're a hearty, determined bunch, and while I may not know you in human person, I love you so very much. Don't stop...don't stop...DON'T STOP!!!!!!!!! You're going to be a part of an amazing new world and universe that is almost finished.

My deepest love to you all,
Lynn Grabhorn

Let's Change the Channel: Jane Roberts and the "Seth" Material

Jane Roberts (An American Psychic and Author) maintained that she channeled a life form called Seth (first contacted through a Ouiji Board)
Her works became very influential in New Age Circles. The Central theme of the work is the now familiar concept that each individual creates his/her own reality through thought.
Not everyone agrees. Here is a post from Michael Prescott's Blog
Here is the preeminent Pro Seth Site:

A Desire to be Fancy

I've been posting to this Blog for a number of years and I have found it to be very satisfying and my readers/sometimes viewers (when the post is video) have often told me they have found  the information and opinion provided here from time to time to be useful.
But sometimes I find I have the desire to Post in order to inject myself into some kind of current cultural fascination. Not because I am interested but because the subject is trending.
Oh I go through a kind of tortured reasoning in an attempt to prove to myself that there was/is an organic (ie: truthful angle for me) to get involved with but thankfully  my years on this planet have reduced this desire to be fancy to a dull roar. So for now I leave this confession instead of a windy missive on (FILL IN THE BLANK)

Word-Coining Time! I now declare the rise of the E-perback! (Or Why $2.99 is the new Black when it comes to Genre Lit)

The small but hardy band of Readers, Watchers and Infidels who follow my attempts at Art know all too well that I recently published my first Novel"Wet Linda"(It's a Horror people)
Now it's doing pretty well and I am excited to be a small part of the World of Letters.
But the single most asked question I receive is: Why only $2.99?
Here is my logic.

I always think of Paperbacks when I think of Genre Lit. (You know Mysteries, Thrillers, Horror etc.)
I am looking at one of my favorites"Off Season" from the Brilliant Author Jack Ketchum right now.
The Price tag? $6.99 I picked it up in 2006 or 7. Now you are looking at north of $9.99
Anything in the 4.99-6.99 range always seemed right to me when it came to Paperbacks.
I figured they are cheaper to make, (I throw them around, I dog ear the pages) I can live with 5 to 7 bucks.
(Wow "7" looked  like too much when I just wrote it-$6.99 is better)

The bottom line, I have a set point price-wise for a paperback. Because my perception (whether or not it's true doesn't matter to my Limbic system) is that  a Paperback is cheaper to produce than a Hardback in all its robust dust-covered glory.

Ebooks are digital and we're used to paying less for digital things: Music $.99-$1.29 for instance)
Earlier there was even a protest

And for me 2.99-3.99 in the digital world is the equivalent of 4.99-6.99 in the Material world.
And 4.99 is what I (would like pay if it were possible to so in this universe) for a new author in paperback-
IE: "Me."
So $2.99 it is.

$2.99 for the E-perback!
E-perback Arise!
Oh and Buy My Book er E-perback!

Reading's Digital Future is So Here.

I am more or less a constant reader. I read anything and everything. The printed word is a magnet for my eyes. For as long as I can remember I have been surrounded by books. Paperbacks, Soft and Hardcovers. Crammed on my two-rows deep book shelves. Stacked on Coffee tables, end tables and nightstands. On the backseat of my car...You get the picture.
Two years ago for Christmas I received a Kindle 2. I immediately bought a cover (a cool pebbly thing) and carried it everywhere. I loved it. With the e-ink technology you can read in the sun. Very handy here in Southern California but I also read at night and so as not to disturb my wife I had to use a flashlight.
This Christmas my aforementioned terrific wife gave me a Kindle Fire. I found even though it has a regular screen (between a good pair of sunglasses and easily adjustable brightness controls) I can still read in the sun BUT now I can also read at night without a flashlight!
My Kindle Fire and I are absolutely inseparable now.
My point?
In the two years or so since Kindle I've purchased perhaps three paper units of reading material.
So I found this excellent piece by Sarah Lacy at PandoDaily to be right on the money.
Yes Geometric change is afoot.
I took this picture on a recent cruise. (Kindles and ipads were ubiquitous)
I also released my first novel which is selling well as a Kindle Exclusive and may never see actual paper and print.
Gutenberg would be proud!
Happy eReading-
